Review & Swatches: Glamour Doll Eyes Pick Your Poison Collection

Hey Everyone!

Glamour Doll Eyes has recently come out with a new collection in collaboration with Amber of A Bit Prissy, who also became a Glamour Girl!!! (Congrats Amber!!) This collection is definitely a favorite of mine because the concept for these shadows is that they all have a neutral base and are also duochrome! I absolutely LOVE duochromes, so obviously I had to purchase this collection as soon as possible!

I will be listing all of the shadows with the Glamour Doll Eyes description followed by my own description of the shadows!

Each shadow was swatched over Glamour Doll Eyes Foil Me.

Each of the photos was taken in artificial light with no flash.

Shadow Descriptions:

GDE: Feverish consists of a deep taupe base with a red duochrome. Could also look like a pink shift when matched with certain colors.
ME: Feverish is a beautiful taupe and seemed to have a more purple/red duochrome than straight red. I did see the pink shift while taking photos and it is slightly apparent in the picture below.

GDE: Mushroom consists of a deep taupe base with a silver duochrome.
ME: Mushroom is a gorgeous gunmetal duochrome shadow! As seen in the photo below, it has a slight blue-teal sheen to it. This is definitely one of my favorites!

GDE: Corrode consists of a deep taupe base with a green duochrome.
ME: Corrode is a taupe base with a green duochrome. This shadow is a perfect green for the upcoming Holidays!

GDE: Malicious consists of a deep taupe base with a blue duochrome.
ME: Malicious is a deep blue duochrome with a lighter blue sheen.

GDE: Lethal consists of a deep taupe base with a purple duochrome.
ME: Lethal is a deep purple duochrome, I really enjoy this purple and it will make a gorgeous smokey eye!

GDE: Bittersweet consists of a deep taupe base with an orange/gold duochrome.
ME: Bittersweet is a beautiful antiqued gold/rose gold duochrome. Definitely another favorite of mine!

Right to Left: Feverish, Mushroom, Corrode

Right to Left: Malicious, Lethal, Bittersweet

Overall I think that this collection is AMAZING and I hope that Glamour Doll Eyes does more duochrome shadows like these ones, with a taupe base! I really think these could be comparable to the Urban Decay Smoked Palette, although I have never used it, the shadows seem similar and are a much cheaper option!

This collection can be purchased here for $24.00 for the full size jars, $10.75 for the sample size jars, and $5.60 for the sample baggies.

My favorite shadows from this collection are Bittersweet, Mushroom, Feverish, and Lethal.

Have you purchased this collection or are you planning to? Which are your favorites?

Review: MakeupGeek Eyeshadows!

Hey Everyone!!!

I have quite the exciting review for you today! I was contacted by MakeupGeek to be a part of their Idea Gallery and to also receive 12 of their eyeshadows. I was so excited to be contacted from them, so I quickly jumped on the opportunity and picked my 12 shadows! The second they came in the mail I opened them up and swatched them and let me just say I was HAPPILY surprised! I will get on to the swatches and give my full opinion at the end.... I know you are all more excited to see these amazing shadows!

Each photo was taken in artificial lighting with no flash.

I did not swatch the shadows over a base to show their true opacity.

I will state Makeupgeek's description of each shadow, followed by my personal view of the each shadow.

From left to right: Mocha, Cocoa Bear, Purely Naked, & Vanilla Bean

Mocha:

MUG: Deep matte brown

Mocha is a beautiful “teddy bear” matte dark brown. This shadow is perfect for deepening the crease of a neutral smokey eye!

Cocoa Bear:

MUG: Matte reddish brown

Cocoa Bear is a warm toned reddish brown, it kind of yields an orange tone. This shadow would go great with Mocha.

Purely Naked:

MUG: Shimmery tan

I found Purely Naked to be a slightly peachy shimmery tan. This is a perfect highlight or all over the lid color.

Vanilla Bean:

MUG: Simple but smooth shadow that has a matte finish with just the slightest sheen.

This shadow is quite similar to Brule from MAC, which is my holy grail highlight shadow! I may just have to swap to Vanilla Bean, since it's a much cheaper alternative!

From left to right: Sensuous, Unexpected, Moondust, & Shimma Shimma
Sensuous:

MUG: Shimmery purple with flecks of silver.

I found sensuous to be a plum purple with silver and gold flecks throughout. On the swatch it didn’t have as strong of color payoff that I was hoping for as it took about 2-3 layers to get it the way it looks in the swatch, but it is still a gorgeous purple and great for hazel eyes!

Unexpected:

MUG: Matte pale pink brown.

I really like this shadow! Unexpected has great color payoff and it a dusty purple with a slight brown undertone. This shadow looks amazing with Sensuous.

Moondust:

MUG: Metallic silver taupe

I found Moondust to be a silver taupe shadow with a slight greenish undertone. This is one of the more true metallic shadows out of the bunch.

Shimma Shimma:

MUG: Metallic Campagne

Shimma Shimma is another pure metallic shade; it is a metallic version of Vanilla Bean. I really love this shadow as an inner corner highlight and to add an extra boost to under the brow.

From left to right: Envy, Corrupt, Peacock, & Razzleberry

Envy:

MUG: Deep metallic green.

I was slightly disappointed with the way that this swatch came out because I was expecting more of a metallic deep, rich green. I found this shadow to be more of a blackened hunter green with silver shimmer throughout and no metallic sheen. Envy is still a beautiful green that would go great with Moondust.

Corrupt:

MUG: Intense matte black with a very subtle sparkle.

Corrupt is perhaps one of the darkest matte blacks out there. I absolutely love how soft and deep this shadow is! Definitely a new holy grail black for me!

Peacock:

MUG: Matte deep teal blue.

Peacock was also another shadow that I had a different vision of judging by the shadow in the pan. The swatch came out to be more of a blue than a teal, although I can see the greenish undertone. Either way, this is still a beautiful shadow.

Razzleberry:

MUG: Raspberry pink with gold shimmer.

Razzleberry is a beautiful pinkish red with gold shimmer throughout.

These shadows truly surprised me with how soft and pigmented they are. There was only one that I wasn't as impressed with the pigmentation of (Sensuous) and it does take a little bit more work to get this shadow to true opacity. Envy was the only shadow that I was disappointed with in that with the online swatch, it looked like a much more vibrant green, but it seems to be a black based hunter green; still a gorgeous shadow though.

All of the shadows are extremely blendable and they are so easy to work with. I found the mattes to perform much better than some of the mattes from MAC as they are much softer and more pigmented.

I would highly recommend giving Makeupgeek shadows a try! They are a little more than half the price of a MAC shadow and apply beautifully! Makeupgeek shadows can be purchased in pan form for $5.99 and in compact form for $7.99.

Here is a look I did using the Makeupgeek shadows!
